QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in mass-catering environments (volume cooking)
• Trade Certificate, Certificate II in Commercial Cookery
• Must be a Bachelor’s /College Degree holder in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management or similar fields.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Prepare, season, and cook food in dining and catering establishments
• Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
• Prepare and cook food/ season food during cooking
• Portion food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities
• Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements
• May plan menus and estimate food requirenments
• May train other kitchen staff and apprentices
